Remembrance Day 2024

Monday 11th, November 2024

Yesterday, Mrs Tinsley, Miss Ainscough and two of our Year 6 pupils, Luke and Hanna represented Wentworth at the Remembrance Day Service. Luke and Hanna laid a wreath at the War Memorial and read the Kohima Epitaph.

"When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,

For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today."

Today, our Year 5 children visited the War Memorial, where they too laid a wreath.

Some children read poems and they reflected on the importance of Armistice Day and why we wear poppies and lay wreaths in remembrance.

Here at school, all the children and staff gathered in the playground. Mrs Dack read a poem, Luke and Hanna read the Kohima Epitaph to the school and Mrs Bennett played a beautiful rendition of The Last Post on the flute, before we all observed the two minute silence remembering the fallen. It was very moving and we are proud of all our pupils who were incredibly respectful.
